Every item on BuyHappyThings.com is sold and shipped by an independent seller. This page explains how shipping rates are calculated, what carriers are used, how long delivery typically takes, and what to do if something goes wrong.

How Shipping Rates Are Calculated

Shipping rates are calculated in real time at checkout using our shipping partner, Shippo. Rates are based on:

  • The item's weight and package dimensions (set by the seller).
  • Your delivery address.
  • The shipping speed you choose (economy, standard, or express).

The exact shipping cost is shown before you confirm your order. There are no hidden shipping surcharges after checkout.

If a seller has entered inaccurate weight or dimensions on their listing, the estimate at checkout may differ from the actual shipping cost. In that case, any significant overcharge is refunded to you automatically and any significant undercharge is absorbed by the seller — not passed on to you after the fact.

Carriers

Sellers may ship via any carrier that provides tracking, including:

  • USPS (United States Postal Service)
  • UPS
  • FedEx

The carrier used for your order depends on the seller's choice and your location. Economy options typically use USPS Ground Advantage or similar services. Express options typically use UPS or FedEx services with guaranteed delivery windows.

Handling Time

Sellers are required to ship within 3 business days of the sale date. Some sellers may ship faster — check the listing or message the seller if you have a specific deadline.

If a seller needs more time than their stated handling period, they are required to message you before the window expires and get your agreement.

Estimated Delivery Times

After the item ships, domestic delivery times are typically:

  • Economy (USPS Ground Advantage / similar): 5–10 business days after ship date.
  • Standard (USPS Priority Mail / similar): 1–5 business days after ship date.
  • Express (UPS/FedEx overnight or 2-day): 1–2 business days after ship date.

These are estimates. Carrier delays, weather, and holiday volume can extend delivery times. The seller has no control over carrier transit times once an item is dropped off.

Tracking Your Order

You'll receive a shipping notification with a tracking number when the seller marks your order as shipped. Use the carrier's website or app to track your package in real time. You can also find your tracking number in your order history in your account.

What If My Package Is Late?

If your package has not arrived within the estimated delivery window:

  • Check the tracking status — it should show the current location and any delivery scan events.
  • If tracking shows no movement for 5+ business days, contact the carrier directly to initiate a trace.
  • Message the seller through our platform to let them know. Sellers can also file a trace or claim with the carrier on their end.
  • If the package is confirmed lost, contact us at support@buyhappythings.com to open a Case.

What If My Package Shows Delivered But I Didn't Receive It?

Check with other members of your household and look near all entry points (including shared mailrooms or lobby areas in apartment buildings). Then contact the carrier to confirm the delivery location and initiate a trace. Provide us with the outcome when opening a Case.

When tracking confirms delivery to your checkout address, Cases for non-receipt are typically decided in the seller's favor, except in cases of confirmed carrier error.

International Shipping

Some sellers offer international shipping. When you enter a non-US shipping address at checkout, you'll see whether international options are available and their rates.

For international orders, you are responsible for any import duties, taxes, and customs fees charged by your country. These are not included in the price shown at checkout. BuyHappyThings.com does not collect or remit duties and taxes outside the United States.

International transit times vary widely by destination and carrier. Customs clearance can add additional time beyond the carrier's estimated transit window.

Shipping Insurance

Shipping insurance is optional and arranged by the seller. For valuable items, we recommend asking the seller whether the shipment is insured before purchasing. If you'd like insurance, message the seller before placing your order — they can add it when purchasing the label.
